About Ilonai
Ilonai is a Swiss project building automatic fall detection for people living at home and, later, for care facilities. The product is in development. We are based in Zug.
The name
Ilonai is named after Ilona, the founder’s grandmother. She passed out twice in public. The fear that followed was not “we need more cameras.” It was: if this happens at home, will anyone know — without turning her life into a feed?
The question wasn’t how to watch her more. It was how to know if she needed help without taking away her privacy.
The product philosophy
Ilonai is designed to learn as little as possible about a person’s life while still detecting a possible fall.
That is a different job from ambient care platforms that reconstruct daily behavior, sleep, gait, or room activity in order to “know the resident.” Those products can be right for some institutions. For an independent person at home, not knowing more than necessary can itself be the feature.
Three categories, simply:
Traditional camera — a person can watch you.
Ambient care intelligence — an AI continuously understands your behavior.
Ilonai — an AI looks for the emergency and otherwise leaves your life alone.
We are not trying to win an accuracy-slogan contest. We are trying to build a safety appliance with a hard privacy boundary, owned locally, on standard cameras.

- Research and prototypes for fall detection
- Local-AI architecture (dedicated computer, PoE cameras, isolated network, cellular heartbeat)
- Preparing a first real-home pilot
- No commercial deployments
- No CE / ISO / completed FADP audit yet
